Civil Partnership Testimonials

Neither David or I are religious and we wanted to celebrate our big day with all our family and friends. We chose a humanist ceremony as this reflected us as individuals and told our story. This was much more important to us than anything else. David & Matt

"Throughout history, ceremonies have been used to mark important events in people's lives. Today, we meet to celebrate the special relationship that this couple share and in making a public declaration of their love, we shall witness their commitment to each other, have a chance to share their joy and give them our best wishes for their future together."

An Inspirational Ceremony….
is all about you…

Your ceremony will be designed with you, for you, expressing your life, your love and your hopes for the future.

You choose the words, readings and music so that your ceremony reflects your individuality and uniqueness as a couple.

Your ceremony can be an intimate occasion with a small number of family and friends or part of a large celebration. It can be as formal or informal as you would like.

You can hold your ceremony where you wish. It can be an indoor or outdoor location of your choice: at a hotel or a village hall, in your home or garden, or at a special beauty spot. It is up to you!

What is a Civil Partnership Ceremony?

A Civil Partnership Ceremony is appropriate for any gay or lesbian couple who wish to celebrate their relationship with a personal non-religious ceremony.

Your unique ceremony…

I will spend time getting to know you so that I can write a personal ceremony which reflects what is important to you in celebrating your relationship. This can include me telling your story as a couple, such as how you first met, what you enjoy doing together and your hopes for the future. From the feedback I have received this is what people have enjoyed and found very meaningful.

For most couples, exchanging vows and rings is a key part of the ceremony. I encourage couples to write their own vows as it gives you the opportunity to say how you feel and make promises that are personal to you. However, I do have a selection of commitments that you can choose from and I can also help you write your own vows.

Personalising your ceremony…

You can personalise your ceremony by including poems, readings and music. Other ideas include: lighting a unity candle, making a wish tree, signing a certificate or special picture, or holding a simple hand-fasting ceremony.

As part of my service I will share with you a resource file, which includes a huge collection of poems and readings, ideas for personalising your ceremony, sample scripts and commitments, and notes for writing your own vows.

A ceremony with a difference…

If your dream is to hold your ceremony surrounded by beautiful countryside then I can make your wish come true. As well as being a qualified celebrant I hold a Summer Mountain Leadership Award and have experience of working in the outdoors.

I have conducted ceremonies in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor settings which have included many local hotels as well as family homes and gardens. More unusual settings include a jetty on Coniston Water, the shores of Ullswater and a field in Borrowdale!

My fees…

The fee that that I charge for writing and delivering a personal ceremony is between £450 and £550 with any mileage charged on top at a rate of 45p per mile. This includes a rehearsal which I will conduct before your wedding day at a time convenient to you and your venue. I will provide you with an accurate quote once I have further details of your ceremony and ask you to pay a deposit of £100 to secure your date. The balance is then due a month before your ceremony.

I look forward to working with you
to create your Inspirational Ceremony
