Mountain wedding in the Lake District
As keen walkers, Jacq and Stu wanted an intimate ceremony in the heart of the countryside. They opted for a mountain wedding in the Lake District on top of their favourite fell, Silver Howe.
An extract from their ceremony:
‘I know the Lake District is a special place for you both. You like to come here to relax and unwind from the pressures of work, and to go walking on the fells.
Silver Howe is one of your favourite spots which you have visited on numerous occasions whilst staying in Grasmere. I know it will have even greater significance after today’s occasion and hope that you will be able to make many return journeys here over the years. ‘
Some feedback from Jacq and Stu:
What made you want a humanist ceremony for your wedding celebrations?
We wanted a ceremony that was unique to us and that represented accurately who we are. As we are not religious we did not want to have a religious ceremony but felt that we wanted to do something a bit more special than simply go to a registry office. We are keen walkers, so our ideal was to go up a hill. We then researched how we could do that in a manner that fitted out values.
What will you remember most from your ceremony and your special day?
Our ceremony was just perfect – the fact that it was raining first thing and then gradually the weather changed as we went up the hill to end up in sunshine. When we were walking up the hill it felt like we were with friends; it was so relaxed and felt like we’d known you for a long time. The wording of the ceremony was wonderful – the suggestions that you put forward showed how much you had ‘sussed us out’ so that it felt so personal and unique.
Any general comments about my service? Any Improvements?
We can’t think of anything we’d have liked you to have done differently – other than you stay longer with us at the top, enjoy the scenery and come for a drink with us afterwards.
